Dysfunctional Paradise

Here is my first post-UNCSA short film. Please enjoy and let me know what you think (if you still check up on this blog.)

I want to thank the Nuray team, since basically everyone involved with the film was from Nuray.

El último día

Oh the double edged sword that is my return home...On the one hand, I don't want to leave my adventures behind in return for stress and school, but on the other, I want to see my puppies, family, friends, and bed (let me tell you, be grateful to your bed! I have slept on some of the most uncomfortable beds recently.) Tomorrow starts early for me (5:30 am) and will be quite a long day, seeing as I get in at 7, which is 1 am Spanish time. And then it's back on the island...Let me tell you, these two months away from the island have been such a tease.

Onwards with the interesting stuff. It's been sweltering here in Miranda the past couple of days. We went to the pool twice yesterday (therefore not many new pictures for a post yesterday, but there is this one photo that I like.)

For my last day, we wanted to do something exciting, so--even in the scorching heat--we decided to take a trip to some of the beautiful pueblos in the area. We only made it to one, Fria. However, it's apparently in the top 50 most beautiful villages in the world, so I'm glad this is the one we got to see. Cozied into the mountains of northern Spain, it lived up to its title and was truly beautiful. Many old buildings gushing with history. However, seeing as it was getting up to the 40s (Celsius, guys, which is in the 100s in Fahrenheit), we were all getting soaked in our own sweat. And the fair skinned guys were worried about getting burned. We decided to pack up into the air conditioned car--side note, it's 2012, and even the new buildings going up in Spain seldom have AC--and go to the mall in Vitoria. We grabbed lunch and did some shopping. Later, we went to Ocio, where Luc swum, biked, and had a biking accident, resulting in a meltdown. Long day, but a great end to a great vacation. I'm going to miss every single person I encountered in these last 7 weeks.

Don't mind me, just hammering in someone else's wall.

Wearing Nan's hat. Where's Luc?
There he is!

Farewell summer, the best of you is now ending.

New Normal

Everyday we have a routine of taking the little guy (on his bike of course) first to a rocket ride outside of a candy store while Kevin buys a bag of chips, then to Alamo, where Kevin has a coffee and Luc plays in the plaza, and then buying bread on the way back to the house. Luc then goes off with his nanny.

There is graffiti all over Miranda. There's some cool graffiti....
And then, there's some stupid and pointless graffiti...
We usually go to Ocio when Luc gets home at 7:30. It's been pretty sweltering lately, so Luc has been going swimming.
This is what Luc calls the "Superman."
Here are some shots of Ocio.

The Routine

Miranda de Ebro, España
The streets

The ever present graffiti
I got bored and began taking photos of Luc.

Very hot here. Luc went swimming in Ocio.
